How to Find Young Adult Drug Treatment for Your Child

August 17, 2017 by Ashley Addiction Treatment

young adult drug treatment

The need for young adult drug treatment has increased tremendously over the past few years. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) reports prescription drug abuse affects more 18 to 25-year-olds than any other demographic. There’s also the ongoing problem of alcohol, cocaine, and heroin use, which has now reached epidemic proportions. Knowing how to choose a young adult addiction program is essential for friends and family members.

Addressing Special Challenges Through Intervention

While technically adults, those under 25 often remain dependent on their parents or other family members for financial support. At the same time, they don’t wish to have others make major life decisions for them. This is why intervention is a key component of any young adult rehabilitation program.

During an intervention, individuals begin to realize how their substance abuse affects others. After going through the intervention process, they have to choose between entering a treatment facility or continuing along the current path.

Components of Young Adult Drug Treatment

An intervention should direct your child to a program that caters to young adult needs. For example, group therapy sessions should focus on issues that most often affect this age group. At the same time, rehab should prepare individuals to make sound judgments and live independently following release.

At Ashley Addiction Treatment, facets of our young adult substance abuse programs include:

  • 12-step programs
  • Yoga
  • Fitness center with on-site personal trainers
  • Acupuncture
  • Massage therapy

Extended Young Adult Treatment Program

Some young people have a harder time becoming sober than others. Young males, in particular, may require more intense treatment than what a traditional rehab program offers. For those individuals, we offer a Young Adult Extended Care Program for men only. This program lasts 90 days, and includes activities of particular interest to men such as:

  • Hiking
  • Fishing
  • Camping
  • Kayaking
  • Rope climbing

Young adult rehab programs such as this might be ideal for those who have struggled with addiction since their teenage years. Designed to promote male bonding, our extended program teaches men how to become role models in their own families and communities.

Our Young Adult Drug Treatment Programs Include Family Members

We understand that turning your child over to a young adult drug treatment program is difficult. At Ashley Addiction, your child is never alone, nor are you completely shunned from the process. Through our family programs, you can work alongside our therapists to bring healing and support. We’ll also show you how to remain involved in aftercare to ensure your son or daughter continues to benefit.

Even young people do not have to let addiction control their lives. Quality substance abuse programs can help you overcome your addiction. Contact us at 866-313-6307 to get started on your road to recovery.
