Ashley’s Family Wellness Program

Addiction doesn’t happen in isolation. When someone enters treatment, the people who love them carry their own weight: confusion, grief, guilt, and an exhaustion that has no clean name. Ashley’s Family Wellness Program was built for that experience. It provides structured family support in addiction recovery, giving the people closest to a patient a space to understand what happened, process what they’re feeling, and build real tools for what comes next.

The program is open to families of current Ashley patients and to families with no affiliation to Ashley at all.

Addiction Changes the Whole Family

Substance use disorder affects everyone in the household, not only the person using it. Family members often develop their own patterns in response. Co-dependence, chronic stress, avoidance, and over-functioning are common, and they tend to develop as survival strategies rather than character flaws.

The Family Wellness Program addresses those experiences directly. Working with Ashley’s licensed therapists, identified social supports aged 18 and older receive dedicated time to voice feelings, past and present, and begin working through them with guidance rather than alone.

How to Support Someone in Rehab

Knowing how to support someone in rehab is harder than it looks. The impulse to call constantly, manage every detail from the outside, or go quiet until it’s over does not help as much as families hope. Some of those responses cause real harm.

This program teaches families what actually works, and what unintentionally gets in the way. Through phone and virtual sessions during a loved one’s inpatient stay, participants learn:

  • The science of addiction and the disease model
  • Skills to manage stress, fear, and co-dependence through structured workshops
  • How to connect with other families on a similar path
  • How to build a recovery network that holds beyond the end of treatment

By the time a loved one completes inpatient care, participants leave with a working understanding of substance use disorders and the specific tools they need to communicate and cope in healthier ways.

Family Healing in Recovery Is Its Own Process

Treatment ends. Recovery doesn’t. Family healing in recovery is an ongoing process, not a single event. It involves learning new ways to communicate, rebuilding trust that addiction damages, and establishing boundaries that protect everyone involved.

Ashley’s program gives families the foundation for that work, not just a set of facts about addiction, but a lived experience of processing alongside others who understand.

A Family Recovery Program for Patients and Non-Patients Alike

As a family recovery program, the Family Wellness Program serves a wide range of families: those whose loved one is currently in Ashley’s care, and those who need support regardless of where their family member is in the process, or whether they have entered treatment at all.

Services run by phone and virtually throughout the 28-day inpatient stay and extend beyond discharge for those within Ashley’s continuum of care.

Participants must be at least 18-years old and will:

  • Learn about the science of addiction and the disease model
  • Develop skills to manage stress, fear, and co-dependence
  • Connect with other families on a similar path
  • Build a recovery network that lasts beyond treatment

Family Health at a Drug Rehab Recovery Center

At a drug rehab recovery center, the best outcomes happen when family is part of the process. Family involvement in addiction treatment is associated with stronger long-term recovery outcomes, and Ashley has built that involvement into its model from the start.

The Family Wellness Program runs alongside inpatient treatment, which means families are not simply waiting for a loved one to return. They are growing alongside them. You can see how that commitment carries through in Ashley’s outcomes data.

Who Can Participate

The identified primary support will be contacted within the first seven days of a loved one’s inpatient stay. The program is open to family members and close supporters of current Ashley patients, and to families of individuals not currently enrolled in Ashley treatment.
