When we get sober, our physical health has often been neglected. With the substances out of our bodies, we can now start to address some other issues about our overall wellness, namely nutrition, exercise, and sleep. Proper nutrition and exercise are vital parts of the early recovery process, as substance abuse robs the body of essential nutrients and can encourage self-destructive behaviors that lead to long-term health problems. In addition, regular exercise fosters improved sleep, greater energy, and enhanced feelings of well-being, all which make life much more manageable and enjoyable, making recovery that much more possible. In this interactive workshop, James Ryan will talk about the building blocks for wellness in early recovery.
