Summary

Our Father Martin Legacy Campaign Capital event on February 12th was a wonderful evening filled with delicious food, dancing and inspiration. Family, friends and advocates joined Ashley and the D.C. Leadership council at the Four Seasons in Washington D.C. to honor two incredible people, the late Michael Deaver and the late Donald Sigmund.

We presented the first annual Michael Deaver Service award, an award to honor the legacy of Michael Deaver and to recognize an Ashley graduate in the DC region who exhibits excellence in their recovery and their service to helping others seeking recovery. Michael was a family man, accomplished pianist and a pillar in the DC political and recovery community. His accomplishments include serving as the Deputy Chief of Staff for President Ronald Regan and expanding the program and leadership of Clean and Sober Streets in D.C.

Donald Sigmund, the 2015 award recipient, passed away in late 2014 and graciously accepting the award on his behalf was his wife Debbie and their son Wright. Donald was a prominent businessman, philanthropist and leading voice in the DC recovery community. Donald was instrumental in the formation of the DC Leadership Council, having written the charter himself, and this group has been a driving force in the development of additional programming and community outreach initiatives at Ashley. As a selfless humanitarian, Donaldโ€™s impact reached many others in the non-profit community in addition to the recovery communities. His philanthropic efforts were profound and continue today through the outstanding work of his wife, Debbie.

Thank you to everyone who attended the event to support our mission and to honor two amazing people.
