Patient Programming

Our Approach

At Ashley Addiction Treatment, our focus is delivering structured, evidence-based programming that supports individuals and families in healing from the impact of alcoholism and other substance use disorders. Our inpatient drug treatment in Maryland, located on our serene Havre de Grace campus, is complemented by integrated family programming—recognizing that recovery is strengthened when loved ones are part of the process. Each level of care is intentionally designed to provide a clear, supportive path through every stage of recovery.

Our comprehensive programming blends clinical expertise with a holistic approach, supporting mind, body, and spirit. Patients engage in individualized treatment plans that may include therapeutic groups, one-on-one counseling, medical care, and wellness-based practices—all grounded in proven, evidence-based modalities.

The Five Pillars of Wellness

At Ashley Addiction Treatment, we apply the science of medicine, the art of therapy, and the compassion of spirituality to support recovery. Our model of care is intentionally designed based on the science of evidence-based treatment methods and the expertise we’ve developed over 40 years helping patients build new lives in recovery.

Physical Wellness

Supports patient physical health and well-being, particularly with managing stress, improving quality of life, and maintaining sobriety.

Emotional Wellness

Addresses emotional challenges such as depression, anxiety, and cravings, with the goal of building resilience and supporting patient sobriety.

Spiritual Wellness

Integrated into activities that enhance patient stress management, commitment to sobriety, quality of life, and optimism.

Social Wellness

Encourages positive social interactions, improving patient quality of life, spiritual practices, and commitment to a sober lifestyle.

How We Utilize Trac9

Trac9 is an assessment tool that monitors specific factors that have a scientifically validated and evidence-based association with long-term recovery. We track our patients’ outcomes through assessments during and 12 months following their treatment with us.

These assessments help us identify their individual treatment needs in real time and determine which counselor best meets these needs to create an individualized path through treatment and into recovery.

The additional data we gather later helps us compare our methods to patient outcomes, advance research to better understand substance use disorder and learn how to treat it more effectively. By participating in this data-gathering process, every Ashley patient has the opportunity to help future patients receive the treatment they need to support their recovery.

Programming for Families

Our family services include a virtual one-on-one coaching session with a licensed clinician designed to help family members or social supports explore available resources – both at Ashley and in their local community.  This session focuses on education, guidance and connecting them with tools and supports that can assist in navigating their loved one’s recovery process.

We also offer the in-person program Recovering Together, an optional, fee-based program offered in addition to those existing services. This opportunity provides families with education, guidance, and the space to address what comes next: life after residential treatment. Through engaging sessions and evidence-based practices, families will gain insight, skills, and confidence to support both their loved one’s recovery and their own well-being.

Ongoing Support

Every patient is assigned a Peer Recovery Coach to assist them for weekly discharge planning. Through these regular check-ins, Peer Recovery Coaches assist with coordinating aftercare services, connecting patients to community resources, and strengthening recovery support networks. They also help address potential barriers so that each patient leaves with a clear, personalized path forward and the confidence to take the next step in their recovery journey.

Our Alumni Department offers a variety of programs that provide ongoing support, foster connections among alumni, and create opportunities for them to give back to others on their recovery journey. At Ashley Addiction Treatment, we are dedicated to ensuring that our alumni remain closely connected to our community.

Ashley Behavioral Health & Wellness

Ashley Behavioral Health and Wellness offers a telehealth mental health and addiction service tailored to individual’s and couple’s needs across Maryland to ensure they can receive quality care at their convenience. We strive to create a supportive environment where clients can thrive and achieve their wellness goals on their terms.

Pilot /Professionals Program

Our Pilot/Professionals Program is designed to cater specifically to pilots who have entered into the initial stages of the HIMS program and have demonstrated exceptional commitment to their recovery and professional growth. This program aims to provide therapy, training, mentoring, and ongoing support to pilots in maintaining sobriety, enhancing their recovery skills, and integrating back into active flight duty.

Adolescent Services

Ashley offers two programs to support youth in our community.

The Roots Project by Ashley is a peer-led, in-school prevention program for grades 6–12, offered at Aberdeen Middle School, Aberdeen High School, and Havre de Grace Middle/High School. It delivers compassionate care in a structured, supportive environment that helps adolescents build important life skills.

The Clubhouse by Ashley is a free after-school and summer program for Harford County teens ages 12–17 in Aberdeen, MD. Teens enjoy activities, meals, snacks, and transportation — all at no cost — in a pressure-free space to hang out, play games, cook, and connect with peers without turning to substances. New members get a free goodie bag, too.
