Wally has rewritten his Back to Basics book for use within ALL 12-Step communities. Basic Recovery is a 2020 version of the 1946 Back to Basics Beginners Meetings that produced a 50-75% recovery rate during the early days of the 12-Step movement. The modified material encompasses all addictive, compulsive and problematic behaviors. The updated passages from the Big Book now reflect gender neutrality.
The Basic Recovery program, which encourages its members to take the steps “early and often,” is an excellent first exposure to working the steps, having a sponsor and finding a “power greater than yourself (that) will solve your problem.”
Note: Bring your Big Book or NA Book and a highlighter.

Session One — 6:00 pm – 7:15 pm
Steps 1, 2 and 3 (40 minutes)
– Take steps 1, 2 and 3.
Breakout Number One (20 minutes)
– Meet with your sharing partner or partners to discuss your surrender.
Break (15 min.)
Session Two — 7:15 pm – 9:00 pm
Step 4 and Setup Step 5 (45 minutes)
– Take step 4 and explain breakout for step 5.
Breakout Number Two (45 minutes)
Take step 5 with sharing partner or partners.
Questions + Comments on Steps 1 – 5 (15 min.)

– Take steps 10, 11 and 12, including a five-minute “Quiet Time” to practice step 11.
