As Father Martin once said, “The rational human being operates ‘I over E’ with intellect controlling his emotions.” Once alcohol and drugs are introduced to this equation, emotions quickly start to control our decision making. Thus, once we sober up, we must learn how to trust our emotions and feelings again. This presentation will explore the concept of emotional sobriety from the perspective of the ability to feel one’s feelings. We will challenge the idea that physical sobriety equals happiness. Additionally, the presentation will offer suggestions and ideas to improve one’s emotional sobriety.
